Alter is a Senior Vice President in the northern NJ office of GZA GeoEnvironemntal, Inc. He is a professional geologist and a Licensed Site Remediation Professional in the state of New Jersey. He holds a M.S. degree from Cornell University and a M.B.A. from Columbia. He is a former adjunct professor at City University of New York.
The textbook introduces the basic building blocks of environmental consulting. Coverage ranges from an overview of regulations and the science underlying environmental processes to a discussion of environmental problems such as asbestos and lead-based paint. The book emphasizes the thought processes that go into designing an environmental study, interpreting the data, and selecting the next step – be it further investigation or remediation.
