GZA Announces the Acquisition of Laurel Oil & Gas Corp.
NORWOOD MA AND CLARKSBURG WV…ISSUED MAY 7, 2014… GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc., a leading engineering consulting firm, is pleased to announce the acquisition of Laurel Oil & Gas Corp. The acquisition of Laurel puts GZA at the forefront of the oil and gas revolution in the U.S.
Laurel has a long history of providing the oil and gas industry with independent consultants for the production, storage, and transportation of oil and gas. Headquartered in Clarksburg, WV, Laurel has been providing completion supervision and engineering services throughout the Appalachian Basin for over 20 years. Laurel’s client list includes local oil and gas operators, many large independent operators as well as the major oil companies.
Laurel was founded by Mark Schumacher, a well-respected petroleum engineer with over four decades of experience. The company directly and through the use of independent consultants and contractors provides “company man” services to their clients. They offer expertise in all phases of oil and gas well drilling and completions including cementing, hydraulic stimulation, wireline, snubbing, and well completions. Additionally, they provide storage field management and down-hole geology and economic evaluation including the appraisal of oil and gas properties. As part of this transaction, GZA has acquired existing contracts and backlog for services to a multitude of firms involved in the energy sector. With a total focus on developing American energy resources, Laurel will significantly expand GZA’s expertise and will bring enhanced services to GZA’s existing and future clients.
The Laurel operations will report to David L. Palmerton, Jr., an existing Principal in GZA. Mr. Palmerton serves as the head of all Oil & Gas Services within the GZA organization.
“Mr. Schumacher and Mr. Palmerton enthusiastically view the opportunity to seamlessly integrate the services of both Laurel and GZA to act as one company and to expand the operations as the United States moves towards energy independence,” said William E. Hadge, P.E. President and CEO of GZA. “Both Laurel and GZA have operated under the belief that success is based on quality individuals providing responsive service to their clients and have built reputations for being among the best in the business. We offer our continued, combined commitment to provide the highest level of service to all our existing and new clients.”
