Volcanoes: Referees for the life on Earth

At the Triassic-Jurassic boundary, 200 million years ago, some 60% of species living on Earth disappeared. Scientists suspected that magmatic activity and the release of carbon dioxide were responsible for this environmental disaster. To corroborate this, one would need to find and to precisely date traces of this activity and make sure that it coincides with this mass extinction.

GZA GeoEnvironmental is currently seeking an Instrumentation Technician to join our growing Geotechnical team in Manhattan, New York. This position will include both field and office work. The field work will include equipment installation and repair, manual equipment readings, maintenance of equipment, deliveries, site visits, and project site work. The office work will include maintaining inventory, constructing and testing instruments from stock materials, stocking and maintaining equipment, generating monitoring reports, and organization of the instrument room.

Geotechnical Engineer

Our Manhattan, New York office has an immediate opening for a Geotechnical Engineer with 2 to 4 years of experience. This position will include a mix of both field and office work. The field work will include observing geotechnical explorations, installation of observation wells, performing pre-construction surveys, implementation of instrumentation monitoring, and special inspection services. The office work will include drafting specifications, writing geotechnical reports, reviewing test results, and preparing proposals.
