Comprehensive and accurate site investigations are a key initial step in the design process. GZA designs, manages and implements land, coastal and near-shore site and subsurface investigations, including subsurface drilling; geophysical, hydrographic and bathymetric surveys; and in-situ testing. GZA also owns and operates three full-service laboratories, including:

• Geotechnical Laboratory, providing complete services for the measurement of engineering properties of soil, sediment and bedrock;
• Environmental Chemistry Laboratory, providing testing of soil, sediment and water for organic and inorganic contaminants; and
• Aquatic Toxicity Laboratory, providing Whole Effluent Toxicity (WET) testing of wastewater samples from industrial and municipal sources.
