Since 1964, GZA's Geotechnical Testing Laboratory (GTL) has provided laboratory testing services for classification of soils, soil-cements and other soil admixtures for determination of static engineering properties. These tests ultimately guide design considerations for a wide range of projects, including buildings, civil works, landfills, remediation projects, industrial plants and power projects.
Some of the analyses the GTL performs includes index properties (gradation, plasticity indices, specific gravity, moisture content, compaction, california bearing ratio (CBR), organic content, consistency determinations and classification), strength parameters including unconfined compression and triaxial compression (unconsolidated undrained, consolidated undrained and consolidated drained), permeability (both constant and falling head) and compressibility or consolidation testing.
Our geotechnical laboratory is certified with the American Association of State Highway & Transportation Officials (AASHTO), and validated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for geotechnical testing. The laboratory is audited bi-annually for compliance with published testing procedures and analyzes performance evaluation samples annually to ensure date validity.
The supervisory and senior technical staff has over 65 years of experience with GZA to insure your project receives the level of quality and detail required.
