Water Resources & Dam Engineering
GZA’s long standing capabilities in the water resource sciences and geo-civil engineering has been well suited to assist public agencies and private sector clients in solving their water-related needs and problems.  We have the expertise with the myriad of water quantity and quality related issues especially where they deal with assessing, designing, constructing, and repairing key infrastructure components such as:

  • Irrigation & Water Supply Wells;
  • On-Site Wastewater Treatment & Disposal Systems.
Water is now recognized as a renewable, yet limited, natural resource.  GZA engineers and scientists provide a full range of multi-faceted site design and environmental impact assessment services that are keyed into the critical concepts sustainable development, integrated watershed management, and low-impact development.
 
GZA has a national reputation in dam safety engineering.  Recent incidents and structural failures has brought home the fact that our aging infrastructure needs immediate and constant attention.  GZA has a strong practice in all phases of dam engineering including safety Inspections required by state regulations, conceptual and final design of repairs and improvements, as well as resident and inspection and other related engineering services during construction.  GZA has the perfect complement of civil, geotechnical, hydrologic, and hydraulic engineering expertise to have been involved with over 600 dam projects over the past 40 years.  These have included the full range of impoundment structures; from small, historic mill dams to some of the largest water supply reservoirs in the Northeastern U.S.
