NORWOOD MA…ISSUED July 24th 2018… GZA Geo-Environmental, Inc. (GZA), a leading environmental and geotechnical consulting firm, announces that Ernest R. Hanna has been promoted to Senior Principal in the firm’s Philadelphia, Pennsylvania office.
A resident of Philadelphia, Hanna joined GZA in 1986. His previous roles at the firm have included District Office Manager of the Buffalo, New York and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania offices, and Regional Operations Officer of GZA’s Mid-Atlantic offices. Practicing geotechnical and environmental engineering, the portfolio of projects completed throughout his career is extensive; his areas of specialization include building foundations, brownfield redevelopment, solid waste facilities, utilities, and infrastructure.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology/Geology from the University of Rochester and a Master of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is a registered Professional Engineer in New Jersey, New York State, and Pennsylvania.
Hanna’s professional activities include membership in the American Council of Engineering Companies, American Society of Civil Engineers, American Society for Testing and Materials, National Society of Professional Engineers, Engineers Club of Philadelphia, International Association of Foundation Drilling, and Solid Waste Association of North America. He has served at various levels within the local professional societies from Committee Chair to President. He frequently contributes technical articles to professional journals and speaks on geotechnical engineering topics.
He was recently appointed to the Board of Directors of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce and was elected to the initial Executive Committee of ACEC’s newly formed Geoprofessional Coalition.
