NORWOOD MA…ISSUED July 23rd 2018… GZA Geo-Environmental, Inc. (GZA), a leading environmental and geotechnical consulting firm, announces that Gary R. McAllister of Wells, Maine has been promoted to Principal. He is in GZA’s Portland, Maine office.
McAllister has 28 years of geotechnical and civil engineering experience, from conceptual planning through construction. He has been with GZA since 2006; as the firm’s Power and Oil and Gas Sector Lead, he provides senior technical and management leadership in support of GZA’s energy projects. His areas of specialization are geotechnical engineering with emphasis on drilled and driven foundations, as well as flood mitigation for critical infrastructure.
McAllister earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Maine. He is a professional engineer licensed in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Florida, North Carolina, and Georgia, with project experience in 27 U.S. states and Atlantic Canada.
The professional organizations with which he is actively involved include the IEEE Power & Energy Society, American Society of Civil Engineers, and the Maine Renewable Energy Association. He has also held leadership positions in the Society of American Military Engineers, Piscataqua Post for more than 10 years.
McAllister frequently presents at regional and national professional conferences on topics including flood resiliency and flood mitigation at energy facilities.
