Staff from Huff & Huff (Chicago) attended the 2015 ACEC of Illinois Engineering Excellence Awards Lunch on February 6 to receive the Engineering Excellence Honor Award for their work on the Route 47 "Green" Interchange at I-90.
From an article in the Chicago Tribune: The first "environmentally friendly" interchange on the Tollway system, it features a geothermal water piping system to heat and cool nearby plaza buildings and permeable asphalt paving to allow water to seep through and reduce storm water runoff, officials said.
The ultimate client was the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority. Project members included Transystems, HDR and GRAEF. Congratulations to the Team.
