We are very proud to be celebrating our 50th Anniversary.
But beyond the obvious milestone and inherent successes that 50 years implies, I have been giving a lot of thought this year as to what it really means to our clients, our employees and our friends, because we wouldn’t have reached 50 years without great clients, great employees and great friends.
50 years is about strength and resiliency. Our business, as all businesses have, has changed dramatically over the past 50 years. Our business has thrived in strong economies and persevered in weak economies. But we’ve always continued to move forward and evolve as an organization, and we are as strong as we’ve ever been.
50 years is about relationships – our relationships with each other, with our clients and with our communities. We are proud of the loyalty of our staff to the Company, and our loyalty to each other. We are proud of the loyalty our clients have shown us, and we have tried at all times to hold their needs and interests paramount. And we are proud of the contributions we’ve made to our communities, through our projects, through our giving and through our personal initiative and involvement.
50 years is about having strong values. We believe that treating our employees, our clients and our friends with respect and a sensitivity to their needs and perspectives is the foundation for success. We believe in private ownership and the freedom it gives us to make decisions that are based on these values. We believe in the responsibility of the Company to do the right thing. We believe that proactive communication and execution is the differentiator between good consultants and great consultants. And we believe that no one person in the Company is as important as the Company itself, and that our success is ultimately defined by how our clients view us.
We understand that our 50th Anniversary probably matters more to our employees than it does to anyone else, but this milestone allows us to reflect on how we made it here, and how much we want to do even better for our clients in the next 50 years. We thank those who have put their faith in us, those who have worked for us, those who have helped us, and those who have led us.
In that spirit, the Company recently announced a charitable giving campaign through the end of the year to show our appreciation to our clients, friends and employees: we will be matching donations made by GZA employees to their favorite charity up to a maximum Company match of $25,000, with a target of $50,000 for the combined donations by employees and the Company.
For these and many other reasons, I am proud to be an employee and the CEO of GZA, and I hope that whatever your interest or connection with GZA is, that it has been positive and helpful to you in your business or career.
I want to take this opportunity to salute our founders, Don Goldberg and Bill Zoino, who had the vision and entrepreneurial drive to start something from nothing, and whose values still form the foundation for the Company.
To our clients, as we enter our second 50 years, we hope you will continue to consider GZA first when you seek environmental, geotechnical, ecological, water or construction management services. We cannot thank you enough.
If you are a prospective client, we would love to have the opportunity to meet with you to discuss how our people, our experience and our expertise may be just what you are looking for in a consultant.
If you are looking for a place to pursue your career, we would love to talk with you. I can think of no better place to work.
