$2 Million Available for Climate Resilience Projects in Rhode Island

The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (RIDEM) has announced the availability of grants from the Climate Resilience Fund to support implementation of climate resilience projects for any municipality in Rhode Island.

$2 million is available with awards of up to $350,000. Applications are due May 29th, 2026. Governments and non-profits are eligible to apply. A 25% match is required.

Eligible projects include:

  • Restoration and improvement of vulnerable coastal habitats
  • Restoration and improvement of river and stream floodplains and related habitats
  • Related projects that improve community resilience and public safety.
  • According to RIDEM: “The grant program and the criteria for evaluating and prioritizing applications are designed to enhance environmental sustainability and resilience across Rhode Island’s communities as described in Rhode Island’s statewide resilience action plan Resilient Rhody 2025.”
