Mindy Sayres joined GZA in 1991 as one of just three founding members of GZA's New Jersey office. Mindy and her colleagues successfully brought their established environmental consulting practice to GZA to launch a new office and expand GZA’s footprint. It was an exciting leap, as this trio sought out high quality firms such as GZA that did not yet have a NJ presence. After a number of years at GZA, Mindy left full time work to raise her children, and created a work plan to continue to maintain and grow her client base during that time. While this choice to manage her work/life balance in this way is more commonplace now, it was less so at the time. She opted to remain a Senior Project Manager and sought promotion to the Principal level on her timeline, leveraging her multi-state professional licenses and bachelor’s and master’s degrees in geology to facilitate GZA’s expansion of geology-based services into new states.

Currently, as a Principal in the Northern New Jersey office, Mindy leads project teams tackling complex, multi-disciplinary projects for clients in varied sectors including utilities and industry. In keeping with GZA’s core values, Mindy provides her professional skills on a pro bono basis to local non-profits, demonstrating the company’s commitment to its community. She also works with multiple internal company initiatives, including the DE&I and Compensation committees. Mindy has always placed a priority on mentoring young professionals. “I was proud to have been recognized this year as one of 2022’s ‘Enterprising Women in Commerce’ from the Commerce and Industry Association of NJ. I was especially gratified to have been included in the Platinum award category, which recognizes women whose careers are models for others.”
