Southeast Michigan Resilience Fund Announces 2026-2026 Grant Cycle Opening

The Southeast Michigan Resilience Fund has announced the launch of its 2025-2026 grant cycle. This fund, administered by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF), aims to enhance the resilience of communities and natural resources in Southeast Michigan by addressing stormwater, habitat, and public-use issues.
 

Grant applications must identify one of three primary categories that best describes the proposed project:
 

  1. Expanding Nature-Based Solutions and Access to Nature: Projects that improve stormwater capture and storage through nature-based design.
  2. Improving Habitat Quality and Connectivity: Restoration projects that enhance the quality and connectivity of habitats throughout Southeast Michigan.
  3. Activating Restored Habitats and Natural Areas: Programs that activate restored habitats and natural areas by investing in long-term habitat stewardship, public access, and community engagement programs.
     

The projects must be located within the counties of St. Clair, Macomb, Oakland, Wayne, Washtenaw, Livingston, or Monroe in Southeast Michigan. Grant awards typically range from $150,000 to $400,000, with the requirement that 70% or more of the funding be applied to on-the-ground work. Key dates for the application process are as follows:
 

  • Full proposal due date: October 16, 2025
  • Awards announcement: March-April 2026
