Dr. Kimberly A. Hoppe Parr Earns Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) Certification

BROOKFIELD, Wis.—June 16, 2021— GZA GeoEnvironmental Inc. (GZA), a leading multi-disciplinary firm providing ecological, geotechnical, environmental, water, and construction management services, congratulates Dr. Kimberly A. Hoppe Parr for earning the Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) professional certification in the Comprehensive Practice of Industrial Hygiene.

Presented by the Board for Global EHS Credentialing (BGC) and the American Board of Industrial Hygiene, the CIH designation requires rigorous educational background and years of professional experience and culminates in an examination process. Less than seven thousand professionals worldwide currently hold a certification and have demonstrated knowledge and skills in rubric areas such as air sampling and instrumentation, toxicology, health risk analysis and hazard communication, and work environments and industrial processes.

As Toxicologist and Occupational and Environmental Health Scientist, Dr. Parr has provided services for a diverse client base including manufacturing, construction, mining, private and legal sectors. She has 13 years of experience in sampling and analysis, industrial hygiene, exposure assessment, human health risk assessment, and environmental health and safety for various chemical and biological substances including but not limited to PFAS, silica, asbestos, diacetyl, metals, isocyanates, phthalates, formaldehyde, and microbial pathogens and irritants. Dr. Parr also is the Health and Safety Coordinator for GZA’s Colorado, Ohio and Wisconsin operations.

Dr. Parr has a strong academic background that includes Bachelor of Science degrees in Microbiology and Cell/Molecular Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and her Ph.D. in Occupational and Environmental Health from the University of Iowa. At the University of Iowa, she was a scientist in the Pulmonary Toxicology Facility within the Environmental Health Science Research Center where she investigated the adverse health effects associated with the occupancy of flood-damaged structures and examined the pulmonary responses and inflammatory pathways associated with environmental exposures using in vitro and in vivo models.
