GZA Welcomes Olga Abinader, ENV SP, WEDG as Associate Principal

GZA is pleased to announce that Olga Abinader, the former Director of the Environmental Assessment and Review Division at the New York City Department of City Planning, has joined the firm as an Associate Principal in our New York City office. Abinader’s appointment reflects the continued expansion of GZA’s Land Use and Environmental Planning practice, which is growing to meet rising client demand for complex planning and permitting expertise.

With over 15 years of experience in urban planning, environmental review, and sustainability across both public and private sectors, Abinader brings extensive leadership and technical skills to GZA’s team. She most recently served as Director of Environmental Review and Land Use Planning at Matrix New World Engineering, a national environmental consulting firm. In her public-sector career, Abinader oversaw hundreds of major development projects through the City Environmental Quality Review (CEQR) process, supporting transit-oriented growth, affordable housing, and resilient communities across New York City. 

Abinader will assume a key leadership role within the firm’s planning practice, helping clients navigate land use regulations, environmental impact assessments, and sustainable development initiatives. Her arrival underscores GZA’s commitment to enhancing its planning and environmental consulting capabilities for both public and private sector projects.
