GZA’s Benjamin Sallemi named to New Jersey public health advisory panel

TRENTON, N.J. and NORWOOD, Mass., August 21, 2019–GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA), a leading multi-disciplinary firm providing geotechnical, environmental, ecological, water, and construction management services, is honored to announce that Senior Project Manager Benjamin M. Sallemi, Ph.D., has been named to a key New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) advisory board.

Dr. Sallemi was named earlier this month by Governor Phil Murphy’s administration to serve through May 2022 as a member of the NJDEP Science Advisory Board Public Health Standing Committee. The SAB provides independent peer review and advice to NJDEP Commissioner Catherine R. McCabe and NJDEP staff on scientific and technical issues, as requested by the agency.  

Dr. Sallemi’s 25 years of experience as an environmental consultant includes extensive project management and field experience with redevelopment, renovation, and demolition projects involving asbestos, lead paint, PCBs, mold, universal waste, and other hazardous compounds. Based in GZA’s Fairfield, N.J., office, he has worked with private and public sector clients, including the U.S. General Services Administration and Veterans Administration and New York City’s Economic Development Corporation and Department of Design and Construction.

A graduate of the City University of New York’s Brooklyn College, Dr. Sallemi earned his master’s and Ph.D. in Earth & Environmental Science from CUNY.  He is a Certified Industrial Hygienist, licensed New Jersey Indoor Environmental Consultant, and holds New York City and State certifications for asbestos investigation and management.
