GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA), a leading multi-disciplinary firm providing geotechnical, environmental, ecological, water, and construction management services, announced today that Acoustic Project Manager Ethan Wagner has earned board certification from the Institute of Noise Control Engineering (INCE-USA). Wagner is the first GZA employee to gain this board-certified status.
Analogous to being certified as a Professional Engineer, the INCE certification is the industry’s premier standard for expertise in noise control engineering. The certification requires passing a rigorous test and obtaining references from five professionals, including at least two who already hold the INCE credential, and years of demonstrated success working in the field.
GZA advises clients on a wide range of acoustics projects, including renewable energy and infrastructure projects, impact mitigation for construction, and other environmental acoustics work. GZA’s acoustic work often involves in-field acoustic measurements, modeling, analysis, and mitigation design.
“We’re very excited to welcome our first board-certified INCE engineer,” says GZA CEO Pat Sheehan. “Ethan’s breadth of knowledge and hands on experience in many disciplines of acoustics, in addition to the existing experience of our acoustics practice and engineering groups, allows us to support our staff working in construction, renewable energy development, energy infrastructure development, and other complex project work with in-house expertise.”
Wagner earned his Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Hartford and is currently completing his Master’s in Engineering from Penn State University. He worked as an acoustic engineer for Bose and Owl Labs before joining GZA earlier this year.
