Since 2023, GZA has supported this autobody repair franchise’s pressing due diligence needs during acquisition of small- to mid-size autobody shops in New England and Mid-Atlantic states. GZA conducts ASTM-compliant Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), Level 1 Property Condition Assessments (PCAs), Phase II Site Investigations (SIs), and additional environmental consulting services, as needed. Assignments range from a single building to multi-parcel portfolios.
Challenge
The compressed timeframe for the assessments often requires rapid mobilization to acquisition targets in a wide geographic area.
Solution
GZA maintains a core management team and single point of contact that oversees all work completed for this client, seamlessly coordinating with environmental staff from multiple GZA offices as needed to perform the assignments. ESAs include on-site reconnaissance, stakeholder interviews, historical land-use research, regulatory database reviews, and local agency coordination for each property; GZA’s environmental professionals identify Recognized Environmental Conditions (RECs), assess potential environmental risks, and document findings. To further accommodate the client’s compressed transaction schedule, GZA will communicate preliminary findings via telephone while ESA reports are finalized. PCAs are also often completed..
Additional services have also been requested which have included environmental consulting related to operations, waste disposal, or regulatory compliance.
Benefit
GZA is a trusted advisor to this long-time client for a variety of their environmental needs, including during high-stakes transactions, when expeditious assessment of environmental conditions and risks is critical to inform acquisition decisions.
