NJDEP Relaunches Brownfield Development Area (BDA) Program

A transformative opportunity for communities to address multiple brownfields simultaneously.
Application deadline: April 30, 2024

Earlier this month, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) announced that its Office of Brownfields and Community Revitalization (OBCR) is accepting Brownfield Development Area (BDA) applications until April 30, 2024. This program offers towns, counties, municipalities, redevelopment agencies, and other qualifying public entities the opportunity to simultaneously address multiple brownfield sites with a comprehensive plan for investigation and remediation through redevelopment.

In GZA’s experience, the early stakeholder involvement that is integral to the BDA program bodes extremely well for a project’s ultimate success: turning brownfields into a shared vision for healthy, vibrant, and sustainable communities.

Explore the details about the resources and benefits available through this voluntary program on the NJDEP website, or contact OBCR for more information at bdaapp@dep.nj.gov, or 609-984-1790.

Please let us know if GZA’s planners or environmental professionals can help you make the most of what could be a transformative opportunity for your community.
