PFAS (or Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances) may be something that you are already familiar with or might be something that you are just hearing about. Either way, it’s critical to understand what this chemical is, how it gets into our water supply, how it affects us, and what we can do about it.

Massachusetts recently adopted one of the strictest standards in the country for PFAS in drinking water and is in the process of conducting PFAS testing in water supplies across the state.

PFAS have been found in roughly 20% of the water systems tested so far, including Sharon and Foxborough, here in the Neponset River Watershed.

Join Susan Bator from GZA as she teaches us about PFAS – the “forever” chemical – and talks about:

  • Industries that use the chemical
  • Exposure routes
  • MA regulations
  • A case study from Stow, MA

A Q&A period will follow the presentation.
