Challenge

GZA provides identification, quantification and assessment of asbestos-containing materials (ACM) and lead-based paint (LBP) at active, high-profile, high-traffic Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) facilities throughout the region, safely completing numerous projects simultaneously.

Solution

Experienced and licensed GZA field staff provide oversight, project control, inspection, monitoring, and air testing for safe and complete removal of ACM and LBP encountered during renovation, rehabilitation and/or demolition of the PANYNJ’s older buildings and infrastructure, including maritime structures.

GZA assists the PANYNJ so the asbestos abatement, paint removal and/or repainting projects—often completed near thousands of passengers, densely populated residential areas, and high-volume roadways—do not endanger the hazardous materials workers, passing pedestrians or motorists, or nearby residents.

Benefit

GZA provides comprehensive staffing with highly experienced field staff who conduct full-time hazardous materials and construction management services at some of the region’s busiest transportation hubs and thoroughfares, facilitating the PANYNJ’s need for continuous and safe operations.
